Mount Vernon Public Library Assistant Library Director
The Mount Vernon Public Library is currently seeking an Assistant Director. This leader is energetic, forward thinking and creative, an effective change agent and a supportive team player. They should be detail oriented and customer driven, with a love for public service. S/he will be comfortable in an environment where change and innovation are constant. This professional who enjoys working in a dynamic, team-focused environment is ready to join the team of 46-plus staff personnel in the quest to make a difference in the community and to the 37 cooperative libraries we serve.
The library aims to be a leader in innovative library service and highly values technology and customer friendly services. Mount Vernon Public Library is the Central Library for the diverse and beautiful Westchester County. The chosen candidate will have an MLS and a progressively responsible supervisory experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing library operations
- Assisting in the implementation of library policies
- Coordinating library functions in all departments
- Orientation and training of professional staff
- Coordination with the Personnel Department and Civil Service to recruit and evaluate personnel
- Assists in the planning of long range goals and objectives
- Represents the Library Director at professional meetings from local to national levels
- Grant writing skills are a plus
